There's this six-acre spot on Humboldt Road, and we thought: what if it was a really rad bike park? Turns out, a lot of other people thought so too.
What's happening
The Chico Bike Park is a riding park designed for everyone — kids on their first bike, families looking for something to do on a Saturday, experienced riders who want to push themselves. Jumps, drops, pump tracks, flow trails, the works. There's also a playground for kids, a food truck lot, and a beer garden run by Ramble West Brewing.
The City of Chico donated the land to CARD (Chico Area Recreation and Park District), who will operate and maintain the park. We've partnered closely with them from the start — helping shape the overall vision, working through design and development, and funding it through a grant. So it'll be a real, maintained community park — not just a cool idea that fades away.
Why we like this one
You shouldn't need expensive gear or a truck to haul your bike to the mountains just to go for a ride. This park is right in town, it's free, and it's for everybody. That's kind of the whole point.
We're also exploring ways to make the park more accessible — maybe some free bike rental programs so you don't even need to own a bike to show up and ride. That part's still TBD until after the park opens, but it's on our minds.
